Thanks, Jeni! This is really useful! I have some very old dolls (from my childhood 😜) as you know. I’ve kept them in pretty good shape, but it’s good to see that careful cleaning is possible. I have always been hesitant because I feared damaging them. Now I know!

I cannot express how grateful I am for this thorough, resource packed post and for your generous advice. Your doll project sounds wonderful. Now when I run across a doll in the wild (thrifts, estate sales) I will be confident enough to see what can be done. For me, it’s the clothing that fascinates.

I can’t seem to post her updated photo here, so I’ll post it in notes! 🥰

Marina, here is Betsy wearing one of her vintage knitted coats. She’s not sticky anymore and her hair is nice and fresh smelling. I went down the Vanish (oxygenated powder) route in the end because she was still sticky after two attempts with dish soap. Lots of smiles to you, Marina!

I'm blown away by how much knowledge you've accrued on this topic. And I love your idea for the Doll Library. Please consider coming to the west coast when you tour! But not in May, when I'll be in England or September, when I'll be in France. Because of course, it's all about me. Kidding. I just really want to meet you in person!

Thank you, Charlotte, for encouraging me! I didn't quite realize just how much I'd learned about the dolls either. It was only when I began to write down what I knew that it dawned on me. So, just like you say, writing is the way forward! I have played bunches of concerts California (up as far as Davis) and even one in Oregon once. So, I just need to get myself a little farther north. I would be SO excited to see you in person. I may be in Nashville in May, but if I'm in England, I'm going to plan on tea with you! One of my big aims when I tour again is to see my favorite humans! So, you are definitely in that plan!
